About Me
My name is Laura Buckingham. I am a qualified Counsellor working integratively
with each client and using the approach which will best suit their needs. I have
worked for many years with a variety of clients with many different levels of need,
who come from a variety of backgrounds, cultures and ages. The most amazing
thing is that all of my clients, past and present, would like to achieve the same
thing and that is to feel better about themselves and become more able to cope
with what life brings.
I am here to help you to see things from a different perspective, walk alongside you
and help you to work through this difficult time. My aim is to support you and give
you the tools and coping strategies to be more equipped and able to handle your
emotions or situations confidently and with clarity.
I have recent experience working in both primary and secondary school settings, supporting children from age 5 through to 18 with their emotional and behavioural needs at these delicate (and sometimes confusing) stages in their lives.
I currently work two days per week in a local Secondary School as a School Counsellor. This is something at I am passionate about, as I strongly believe that supporting students' mental health is essential if they are going to build resilience, feel happier, more confident and get the most out of their education. I will continue to support students of this age in my private work.

Happiness is when you feel good about yourself without feeling the need for anyone else's approval
Further reassurances for your peace of mind. I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This is an umbrella organisation which ensures best practice in the counselling relationship and also ensures I work professionally, ethically and safely for both of us. I am guided by and work within the BACP’s Ethical Framework, a copy of which you can find on their website at www.bacp.co.uk. I am fully insured and have a current Enhanced DBS check.
